About Me

EXPERIENCE

Yoga therapist/instructor since January 2009, working with patients in oncology rehab, cardiac rehab, Parkinson’s disease, group and private sessions.

Yoga for mindfulness and stress reduction sessions for several psychiatric hospital inpatient groups: adult, geriatric, intensive management, children and adolescents, and also PHP/IOP (outpatient based) groups.

Working with support groups (Lose Well, smoking cessation, amputee, diabetes, etc.).

Facilitated centering sessions for OB-GYN clients. Presented Yoga for a hospital staff retreat. Also teaching Yoga for business clients of a healthcare system.

Yoga sessions for county substance abuse programs since 2009, including inpatient detox treatment, a women's residential treatment, a residential facility for teenage boys, and Yoga for outpatient substance abuse groups (men, women and teens).

Leading fitness and/or therapeutic/ adaptive Yoga classes, chair Yoga, Tai Chi, and pain management meditation.

I've been teaching classes in Qigong/Tai Chi since 2001, and teaching Yoga since 2009. Practicing Ayurveda since 2016.

Received a dual course of training in integrative eclectic shiatsu and medical qigong. Certified in both by the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia. Completed the "Acupuncturists Without Borders" training in 2014. 

Studied and professionally practiced massage therapy modalities including neuromuscular therapy, myofascial/craniosacral release, hand, foot and ear reflexology, and jin shin jyutsu. 

Previous experience teaching workshops in Qigong and Tai Chi, and taught community classes in Tai Chi Qigong, acupressure techniques, movement and massage (including massage for pregnancy and massage for doulas) for a local hospital. 

Taught a 100-hour reflexology certificate program for a local technical college.

WORKSHOP AND PRESENTATION EXPERIENCE:

Annual SC HIV/HCV/STD Conference for 6 years (2012 - 2017): presenting Yoga and Ayurveda topics for affordable care, promoting health and stress reduction.

2015 World Diabetes Day Conference at the GHS Memorial Medical Auditorium - presenter of "Thriving with Diabetes; Yoga Strategies for Positive Living"

2013 Presenter of Yoga Self-Care Strategies at a Region I Professional Development Training for counselors, social workers, medical professionals and prevention specialists.

Teaching a 100-hour reflexology certificate program for Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC.

Teaching Yoga workshops in both a hospital setting and a medical facility.

Teaching Qigong and Tai Chi workshops at the former Asheville School of Healing Arts.
